MASTERCLASS FACILITATOR        
Professor Patrick Dunne OBE, renowned for his award-winning book "Boards" and author of three other successful books on the subject, is an experienced Chair with a wealth of experience working with boards across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. Currently, he serves as the Chair of the board consultancy Boardelta and the charities The EY Foundation and ESSA- Education Sub Saharan Africa.

Patrick Dunne brings extensive executive experience having spent over 26 years at Air Products and 3i Group plc, as Communications Director, member of the Operating Committee and Chairman of Operational Risk forum. His commitment to education is ongoing, as shown by his past involvement as a member of the General Council of the University of Warwick, along with his current roles as a Visiting Professor at Cranfield School of Management and an Associate Fellow at Warwick Business School.

Recognized for his contributions, Patrick was awarded an OBE in the Kings Honours list in 2023 for his services to charity and philanthropy in Africa and the UK.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Explore how leading boards and board members, globally and across different sectors, are adapting their decision-making processes as well as the way they compose and operate their boards more generally.
• Have had the opportunity to take a ride in the Board decisions and dilemma simulator to enhance personal effectiveness in dealing with critical fast-paced decisions and dilemmas. 

MASTERCLASS CONTENT

This Masterclass will be highly participative, underpinned by robust frameworks and research and deeply pragmatic in nature. It will explore: 

• The changing context and nature of decisions and dilemmas for Boards.
• How boards are moving from a “Maps” to a “GPS” world in terms of how they are making decisions.
• How this is changing the nature of the relationship between the board and the executive.
• The rise of NextGen boards and other ways of connecting boards to insights and stakeholders. 
• Techniques for developing critical decision making and dilemma dealing muscles.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

Learning will be facilitated through “real life” situations, mini role plays and exercises, exchange of experiences and feedback from Professor Patrick Dunne.
Attention will be given to the challenges faced by the participants and how these can be turned into positive outcomes. This process makes the training fast-paced, challenging, and empowering.
