Eduard Romulus Goean is Vice President of New Business Partnerships at Therme Group and Visiting Professor, University of Surrey, UK. 

Eduard had a comprehensive diplomatic career which includes both public and commercial diplomacy. From this perspective he was the negotiations strategy engineer used by the Romanian delegations to successfully conclude strategic partnership agreements with political representatives from China and other regional investors.   

As a member of the Board of Directors of several companies, Eduard was an active member of specialist strategy teams focused on optimising business portfolios, identifying new investment opportunities, and exploring innovative ways of improving productivity in a variety of industries like banking & finance, wellbeing & tourism and transportation sectors. 

Nowadays, Prof Eduard Goean investigates the applications and implications of blockchain and tokenomics in global travel & tourism industry and is an advocate of utilising technology to forge new pathways to a better future. His current work covers digital nudging and technological issues able to develop sociotechnical systems for sustainability transition to net zero path.  

The research is investigating how to design a blockchain business model that facilitates carbon investment in green projects, aligned with the needs of clients, investors and service providers. As part of this initiative, he is leading the development of a new form of decentralized autonomous organisation, which can ensure transparency, accountability and democratic decision-making as well as a new type of contract readable by both blockchains and people. 

Meanwhile Prof Goean is involved in designing and promoting a new generation of carbon footprint calculators special designed for tourism industry in a KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) project co-financed by UK Government through Innovate UK platform too.
