PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Focusing on governance and strategic oversight as a board-level stewardship responsibility, the programme provides you with the knowledge and skills to support effective judgements in board-level decision-making and promote longer-term resilient governance.
ENVISIA is proud to announcing the launch in partnership with Henley Business School the Postgraduate Certificate in Board Practice and Directorship (PGCert BPD).
Successful completion of the PGCert BPD may give participants the opportunity to progress further and obtain an MA in Board Practice and Directorship.*
The Programme is delivered by expert academic faculty, with insights from highly experienced board practitioners. It also draws extensively on the top-team governance research conducted at Henley Business School, which covers more than 19,000 organizations across 43 countries.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Experienced practising board members:
- Chairs,
- C-Suite level: chief executive officers (CEOs), chief financial officers (CFOs) etc
- Senior independent directors (SIDs),
- Non-executive directors (NEDs)
- Company secretaries
from across the private, public and third sectors.
The programme may also suit senior managers with directorship potential, noting that at Stage 3 each participant needs access to a current real-world, board-level governance issue.
PROGRAMME EXPERIENCE
Delivered in Romania, the PGCert BPD is a part-time programme consisting of three two-day workshops combined with self-study. It is expected that participants will be currently employed.
The PG Certificate in Board Practice and Directorship comprises of three modules taught over a 1 week intensive period. An individual assignment and group case study is required to be submitted each month during the 3 months following the workshops. Workshop attendance and successful completion of all assignments for each module are compulsory in order to achieve the award. Participants are also required to keep a reflective learning journal.

- ‘Common good competitiveness’ as a more sustainable alternative to profit orientation, short-termism, or shareholder/self-interest
- The relationship between risk and uncertainty in relation to business decisions, behavioural economics, cognitive bias, accounting and finance, and handling conflict and crises
- Appetite and tolerance for risk
- The link between risk and internal/external factors
- How boards and board members interpret and report risk


APPLICATION PROCESS
Entry requirements
A Master’s degree or a good BA degree (or equivalent)
Organizational leadership/board experience, or at least three years’ senior management experience with board-level access
Access to a live board-level governance challenge identified in your proposal
English language proficiency: IELTS 7.0, with no element below 6.0 (see note below) OR an “English Proficiency at Work” document – signed by current employer)
Applicants who possess exceptional organisational experience but do not meet the standard academic requirements are welcome to apply and may be considered for entry onto the programme on a case-by-case basis.

Successful completion of the PGCert will take up to 8 months part time as dictated by the submission and marking timetable ( See Programme description )
Any subsequent Stages* are also designed to take up to 8 months part time.

Enrolment process timeline:
– Enrolment file submission: Closing date: 21 April 2021
-Interview sessions: Starting date: 21 April 2021 – Closing date: 22 April 2021
– Official feedback on admission and confirmation of cohort running: 28 April 2021
–Official offer submission from Henley, if successful application: 29 April – 06 May 2021
–Offer acceptance and payment: within 10 days from the invoice received, not later than 16 May 2021
Complete the enrolment process and receive University of Reading student credentials – Enrolment onto the programme may only begin once payment is assigned to your student account. Upon successful completion of enrolment, students have access to programme resources and pre-reading.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the PGCert BPD, an internationally recognised qualification from a triple-accredited, global business school.
Participants who successfully complete the PGCert may have the opportunity to progress on to the Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) and Masters (MA) stages*:
The PGDip BPD (Stage 2) is designed to focus on board dynamics and offer mentoring for you as a director
The MA BPD (Stage 3) is designed to give more specialist sector expertise (private, public and third sectors), including applied research into a real-world board-level governance issue
